Simon’s Trail is an old pedestrian track that has been cleaned and widened in order to become a proper trail for bikers.
To reach the trail, go to the village of Prossenicco and head towards Platischis. Please pay attention to take the uphill road to the left at the crossroads outside the village. Following the paved road (don’t worry: there are not many cars, due to its bumpy surface) after about 4.91 km you reach the forest road, to be followed for the remaining 2.1 km.
Following the signs, leave the forest road to get closer to the start of the trail, after a final steep climb. Once you have reached the plateau, take the trail that will give the first sample of descent and then ride the last 20 meters.
From now on, enjoy the variety of the track.
After tackling the first curves, you reach the first pine forest: please pay attention to some roots in the counter-slope. Once you have passed this part of the trail and entered the first straight line, you can experience the speed of the track. Before reaching the fastest point, you cross the second pine forest which is very close to the third, and after which you meet a small waterstream (the water is present only after a rainfall). Then you reach the most important part of the track, where you can reach speeds of almost 50km/h. At this speed you reach the final part of the trail that begins with the last pine forest.
Shortly before, please pay attention to a narrow passage between the trees where you will find rocks on the bottom. The final part of the trail is characterized by two series of sharp angled bends where every rider can give vent to their skills. Leaving the wood, you go along a counter-slope lawn and then exit onto the road at the entrance to the village of Prossenicco.
Ground composed mainly of soil and undergrowth.
This is a shared trail, be careful and enjoy the ride.
Simon’s Trail is suitable for beginners in dry conditions, only for experts with wet conditions.
